Compare two PDF contracts
Compare two PDF contracts and find the quiet edits.
A changed amount, a moved date or a softened clause is easy to miss when you read two documents one after the other. Put both versions in and the differences are listed for you. Contracts stay on your computer.
- Contracts are not uploaded
- Every changed word
- Inserted pages do not break it

No file yet
No upload. This page's security policy forbids network connections, so your file cannot leave it. See how to check that yourself.
Free: on-screen comparison of the first 5 pages of each file. Pro ($19, once): every page, and a downloadable redline PDF with the changes marked. Only the text of the PDFs is compared, not images or layout.
How it works
Pick the versions
The older draft is A, the newer one B. Swap them with one click if you chose the wrong way round.
Check the summary
See how many words changed and on which pages. Hide untouched pages to go straight to the edits.
Send a redline (Pro)
Download a PDF showing removed text struck through in red and new text underlined in blue.
A sensible way to review a revised contract
- Run the comparison with the original as A.
- Read the deletions first. Removed protections are the changes that tend to hide.
- Read every changed number, date, party name and defined term in the additions.
- Check the pages reported as added or removed: they are whole clauses.
- Look separately at anything that is not text: signature blocks, schedules that are images, tracked layout.
What this does not replace
It does not interpret the contract or rank changes by importance, and it only sees text. If a document is a scan, there is no text to compare. Treat the result as a map of where to read carefully.
Questions
How do I compare two versions of a contract in PDF form?
Choose the older version as A and the newer as B in the tool above. The differences appear page by page with additions and deletions marked, and counts for the whole document. With Pro you can download a redline PDF to send to the other side.
Will it catch a changed number, date or party name?
Yes, it compares every word, so a changed figure, date, name or defined term shows as a removal and an addition. That is the main reason to use it rather than reading two documents side by side.
Is my contract uploaded?
No. Both files are read in your browser and the page cannot make network connections. See the privacy page for how to check.
What if the other side sends a PDF with different formatting?
Line breaks and spacing are ignored, so reflowed paragraphs still match. Differences in running headers, footers and page numbers do show up as changes, because they are text.
Does it compare tables and signatures?
Table text is compared as words in reading order, so a changed cell shows up, but the table layout is not compared. Signature images, logos and other pictures are not compared at all.
Should I rely on it instead of a lawyer or a careful read?
No. It finds differences in text, quickly and without missing a word. It does not tell you which differences matter, and it cannot see anything that is not text. Use it to know where to look.
